Sichuan dongpo Chinese kimchi industrial technology research institute was founded in June 2013, at the special advantage of pickles industry development needs, relying on the "pickles industry technology innovation alliance" and "kimchi innovation team", focus on the industry the most advantage of the unit and the best experts and scholars, new research institutions "production" depth fusion, is also the practice of national science and technology system reform innovation demonstration, to sichuan province the first start of one of the ten "industrial technology research institute", awarded by Ministry of Science and Technology "sichuan pickles industry national science and technology correspondent quality chain". It is the main unit of "Sichuan Meishan 'Dongpo Pickle' Industrial Patent Alliance".

Under the strong support of provincial and municipal departments and enterprises, it has gradually formed a traditional fermented food technology research and development platform based on kimchi. At present, there are 4 professional institutes including new product research and development, microbial research, comprehensive utilization and fermentation research, and 1 physical and chemical analysis and testing center. It is equipped with more than 100 sets/set of gas phase, liquid phase, conventional instruments and pilot equipment, more than 30 sets/set of public quality, liquid mass spectrometry, ICP-MS, atomic absorption and other sophisticated equipment, and more than 30 professional scientific research personnel.

Since its establishment, it has achieved fruitful results. It has established a library of sauerkraut strains, a gene database, and collected more than 3000 strains of all kinds of sauerkraut strains. Completed the preparation and revision of one national industry standard and participated in the preparation and revision of one international standard for kimchi. It has won 1 first prize of National Industry Technology Invention, 2 first prizes of Provincial Science and Technology Progress, 19 national invention patents, published more than 30 related papers (SIC included many), completed 5 products transformation, 7 achievements appraisal (including 2 international leading level), and served more than 20 enterprises.
